Located in Xi’an, TOOMAII Space Aesthetics Design Studio is a physical expression of our design philosophy—one that speaks through the warmth of wood, grounded in an old-money sensibility and a naturalist aesthetic. We envision the studio as a place where people want to linger, slow down, and become aware of the passage of time.
Wood sets the tone throughout the space. Pale oak extends seamlessly from the ceiling onto the walls, creating an enveloping “wooden box” that dissolves the conventional boundary between wall and ceiling, transforming the studio into a warm and intimate container. The natural grain of the timber has been deliberately preserved. Knots and variations in tone are not treated as imperfections, but as traces of time—an approach that reflects our interpretation of old-money aesthetics: rather than following trends, we choose materials and craftsmanship that can withstand the test of time.
The design deliberately avoids unnecessary decoration, allowing materials themselves to become the visual language. The rugged texture of travertine enters into dialogue with the warmth of wood, while hand-crafted textiles and refined matte metals create a delicate balance. This strategy of juxtaposing warm and cool, rough and refined, brings tactile depth and emotional warmth to the space.
The palette is restrained within a gradual spectrum of earthy tones—from warm beige and light camel to caramel brown, deep brown, and charcoal black. Like the natural layers of soil, the colors transition subtly from light to dark. Rather than relying on contrasting blocks of color, the space explores variations in tone and luminosity within the same chromatic family, creating an atmosphere that feels quiet, refined, and timeless. This restraint is also a gesture of trust in the sophistication of the people who inhabit the space—we believe true elegance never needs to be loud.
